David D. Simpson
After coming to Carroll University, I completed my doctoral dissertation work and continued collaborative research related to my dissertation with Dr. Thomas M. Ostrom (Ohio State University) and Dr. John Pryor (University of Notre Dame). I also spent several years developing data analysis and computer resources for the (then called) Carroll College Psychology Department and serving as an informal consultant to students, faculty, staff, and administrators in the design, administering, and analysis of experiments and surveys.
Over the course of the past forty years my research interests have focused on impression formation, the "Mozart effect," and subliminal perception. I have been especially interested in investigating the usefulness of learning tools such as blogs, podcasts, wikis, self-publishing software and other social media applications. Most recently, as I approach retirement, I have refocused my research interests on aging and brain fitness.
